A Walk Through the Mist

Oil on Canvas (24”x20”), 2023

A year of fogginess, complacency, and a fight to feel the same joy I used to get from the passions I had in college.

Post-grad was a disappointing reality. Moving back to my parents’ house in Arizona, losing the sense of identity and freedom I had worked to build at NMSU. Endlessly applying to jobs and never hearing back. Struggling to establish boundaries. Losing the routine of being in school and on the university cross country team, along with all the friendships built along the way. Not knowing how to motivate myself to paint or run anymore. Listening to music I used to love and feeling nothing.
